About The Rox!

Fronted by charismatic front man John McIntyre of the Kicks, THE ROX a three piece band based in Glasgow, available for Weddings parties and corporate events. 

Johns worked with many people in the industry rubbing shoulders with some big names. He has also appeared on the Riverside show on STV after a series of Jams and recording with none other than Paolo Nutini 

Aside from playing over a thousand weddings, he's performed at many different events around the UK and Europe. In November 2012 & 2013, he performed in front of 40,000 people at Falkirk City Council's annual fireworks show at Callendar Park. After releasing their first album; a collection of cover songs, the he embarked on a short tour of Holland which included an appearance on the Dutch TV and Radio Show, Omrop Fryslan, which broadcasts to over 60,000 viewers! The response from the audiences ensured a return to headline a festival in Friesland, Holland in June 2014. Scoring a couple publishing deals on his travels John is also a keen and gifted song writer and is releasing his debut solo album Pledge in August 2018. 

John first began honing his craft young, studying music at North Glasgow college where his love for playing guitar was accelerated. With a bit of bluffing and bravado he started playing bar gigs from the age of 17 and soon became increasing hooked on the thrill of playing to a crowd. This served as a make shift apprenticeship and helped make him the charismatic front man with the ability to work an audience that he is today.

On Bass and backing vocals we have the awesome all round talents of David Lennon. David's background in variety of instruments both playing and teaching is frightening. Bass is his first instrument but he has played fiddle in a very popular Ceilidh band as well as taught guitar and piano within a music school. From day one David's approach and enthusiasm have helped make The Rox the well oiled machine it is today. 

Very much a pocket player playing for the overall sound of the band rather than just for himself. 
David has done it all! With a CV that includes performing alongside former Guns N' Roses guitarist, Ron Thal (Bubmlefoot), undertaking mainland European tours/festivals with various folk outfits and playing pretty much any size venue in the UK - there's no gig David hasn't tackled!  

He attained an HND in Music Performance in 2010 and has since never looked back. David has also been a teacher for the last 10 years and he brings his wealth of musical knowledge to every lesson. With this experience under his belt David is the perfect fit for The Rox's high caliber performances!

On drums we have the one and only Michael MacIntosh. A better all round drummer you would not find in this country. Both David and Michael's blending together as a rhythm section and their tight backing vocals make the Rox a little bigger sounding than a 3 piece outfit.
